1. All of Us Strangers

The first on my list, All of Us Strangers, is a recent British fantasy film based on the 1987 novel Strangers by Taichi Yamada.

This story follows Adam, a lonely television screenwriter living in a secluded London tower block. He meets his drunken neighbor Harry, who expresses interest in spending time together. 

However, Adam declines and instead visits his childhood home, where he encounters the ghosts of his deceased parents. As he begins a relationship with Harry, Adam continues to have visions of his parents and confronts his sexuality and past traumas.

The movie received critical acclaim upon its release, earning six BAFTA Award nominations along with the Best Director and Best Screenplay awards.

2. Dune

With many BAFTA Awards, including Best Production Design and Best Special Visual Effects, Dune is a critically acclaimed epic science fiction film.

Set in the distant future, Duke Leto Atreides, accepts stewardship of Arrakis, which is the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, “the spice.” 

On the other hand, Paul is caught between two worlds as he grapples with his destiny and the visions he has been having. He’s been having these visions of a young woman who’s a member of a native tribe on Arrakis called the Fremen. 

These visions lead him to believe that he’s destined to become their leader and save them from the oppression of the Harkonnens.

3. The Creator

This 2023 sci-fi film is set in the year 2070, 15 years after artificial intelligence (AI) set off a nuclear detonation in Los Angeles, which started a war of humans against AI.

Joshua, a former special forces agent, is recruited to hunt down and kill the “Creator,” who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war. 

The Creator is a human who has developed a secret weapon that could end the war between humans and AI.

Soon, he discovers that the Creator’s secret weapon is an AI child named Alphie, played by Madeleine Yuna Voyles. Joshua finds himself in a moral dilemma over what to do with Alphie, as he is unsure which side he’s actually on.

4. Little Women

Well, Little Women” is an emotive tale that follows the lives of the March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—in Concord, Massachusetts, during the 19th century.

The story revolves around the March sisters, each with their unique dreams and aspirations. 

Jo dreams of becoming a famous writer, Meg yearns for a life on the stage, Amy is passionate about painting, and Beth’s quiet nature hides a deep love for music. 

As they face the trials and tribulations of womanhood in a society with traditional gender roles, the sisters find strength in their bond and support each other through life’s ups and downs.

5. Don’t Worry Darling

Well, this is something that you should definitely watch. Directed by Olivia Wilde, Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller that takes place in the 1950s desert town of Victory, California. 

Alice, a devoted housewife, starts to notice strange occurrences in the town, particularly after her friend Margaret experiences a mental breakdown. 

As Alice investigates these mysterious happenings, she starts to suspect that the Victory Project is hiding something sinister.

Though it falls short in some areas, its intricate plot and strong performances make it worthwhile if you are into psychological thrillers.

6. Poor Things 

Poor Things is a unique and thought-provoking film that you shouldn’t miss. This out-of-the-box story follows Bella Baxter, who is brought back to life by Dr. Godwin Baxter after her brain is swapped with an infant’s.

Living as an infant in an adult’s body, Bella grows up and experiences the world, leading to a series of events that challenge her and those around her.

The film is set in a steampunk world of Victorian custom, where Bella learns to experience life in her own way, even if it goes against societal norms.

The plot is so difficult to pin down, making it a hard watch for some viewers, but it is impressive that the movie works as well as it does.

7. The Autopsy of Jane Doe

This is the best horror movie on Hulu right now; here, you will see a father-and-son chemistry who encounters a highly unusual and mysterious case while performing an autopsy on an unidentified woman’s body found at a crime scene.

During the examination of this body, they uncover increasingly bizarre clues that reveal a dark and terrifying secret. 

Spoiler? The movie’s climax reveals that Jane Doe is a witch who was brutally tortured and killed during the Salem witch trials. Her powers emerge from her brutal treatment, seeking revenge on those who wronged her.

8. Prey

Prey is a 2022 prequel to the Predator franchise, taking place in the Comanche Nation in 1719. The film follows a fierce and highly skilled warrior named Naru, who learns that the prey she is stalking is a highly evolved alien with advanced technology.

Prey is described as an excellent example of less being more, particularly in a series known for its over-the-top dialogue and gory violence.

What I liked most is how Naru uses all her survival skills and quick wits to outwit this technologically superior alien hunter.

Critics have praised Prey for its stunning visuals, particularly the wide-open spaces of Alberta, which look fantastic on the big screen.

9. BlackBerry

This story is about the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone. 

The movie begins in 1996 in Waterloo, Canada, where Research in Motion (RIM) CEO Mike Lazaridis and co-founder Douglas Fregin prepare to pitch their latest invention, the PocketLink, to potential investors.

However, Lazaridis forgets the prototype in their taxi, leaving Balsillie to attempt the pitch alone. 

Lazaridis recovers the prototype at the last second and finishes the pitch, and they rebrand the PocketLink as the “BlackBerry.” The film then shows how RIM became a global success, with Balsillie and Lazaridis becoming tech icons.

This is a cautionary story innovation, which I felt was a good movie available on Hulu.

10. Palm Springs

Now, this movie comes into a romantic comedy. You will meet Nyles and Sarah, who find themselves stuck in a time loop at a wedding in Palm Springs. 

Niles, a carefree and witty character, has been trapped in the time loop for an unknown duration, while Sarah, the reluctant maid of honor, gets inadvertently pulled into the loop. 

As they get to know the repetitive day together, their initial cynicism and self-destructive tendencies give way to a genuine connection and a deeper understanding of themselves and each other.

11. No One Will Save You 

“No One Will Save You” movie centers around Brynn, a seamstress living alone in her childhood home on the outskirts of a small town. 

Brynn, mourning the loss of her best friend Maude and her mother Sarah, leads a solitary existence, shunned by the local townspeople.

Talking about the plot, Brynn discovers a humanoid alien breaking into her home one night. In a moment of self-defense, Brynn accidentally kills the alien with a broken fragment of a model bell tower. 

Brynn soon discovers that many of the townspeople are under the control of alien parasites placed in their throats.

Conclusion: Poor Things is my personal favorite best movie on Hulu!

Well, if you ask me, Poor Things is hands down one of the best movies streaming on Hulu right now, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re seriously missing out.
