In short, the story floors Louis Banks, a brilliant linguist recruited by the military to decipher the language of mysterious extraterrestrial visitors. 

A huge alien spacecraft visits different locations around the globe; Louis and her team race against time to communicate with these enigmatic hetapods. 

4. Nope

Well, it’s aliens again! Nope is a masterclass in blending horror, sci-fi, and social commentary. 

This movie is about two Haywood siblings, OJ and Emerald, who attempt to capture evidence of a UFO hovering over their horse ranch in Agua Dulce. 

Director Peele has masterfully built the tension and suspense throughout the film by keeping the true nature of this UFO mystery folded to the end.

5. Let the Right One In

The story centers around Oskar, a lonely and bullied 12-year-old boy, and Eli, who is a mysterious girl who moved in next door. 

Speaking of Eli, she is not like other children, she is a vampire, forever trapped in a child’s body.

What unfolds is a tender tale of two outcasts finding comfort in each other’s company despite the dark world that surrounds them.

6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

“Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind” is a story about  Joel and Clementine, a couple whose relationship has reached its breaking point. 

They both undergo a procedure to erase the painful memories of their failed romance. But as the process begins, Joel realizes that he does not want to let go of their moments together. As someone who has been a die-hard fan of The Godfather trilogy, I can confidently say that The Godfather Part 3  is a perfect conclusion to the epic saga of the Corleone family. 

Set in 1997, it follows an aging Michael Corleone as he attempts to extricate his family from the world of organized crime and legitimate their business interests. 

But he gets pulled back into the criminal underworld when his nephew Vicent gets involved in a dangerous situation. 

If you are a fan of The Godfather trilogy or simply appreciate cinema at its finest, The Godfather Part III is a must-watch on Peacock

8. John Wick 

Canadian superstar Keanu Reeves played a retired hitman role as John Wick. He is a former hitman for the Russian mob who’s trying to leave that life behind after his wife passes away. 

But when punk kids break into his home, kill the puppy that was a final gift from his late wife, and steal his vintage car, everything changes. 

That’s all it takes to set Wick off on a path of brutal vengeance against the Russian mobsters who employed the punk’s father. And let me tell you, Keanu is so freakin’ good in this role.

9. Dunkirk

Dunkirk follows the World War 2 events where Operation Dynamo rescued over 338,000 British and French soldiers from Dunkirk between May 26 and June 4, 1940, boosting British morale amidst fierce battles with German forces.

In short, Nolan has portrayed three interconnected storylines – land, air, and sea. On land, a ground of young soldiers desperately try to survive and escape the beach.

The three storylines converge as the soldiers on the beach desperately try to board any available ship while the civilian boats and the RAF pilots risk their lives to facilitate the evacuation.

If you appreciate cinematic excellence, Dunkirk is the one I would recommend from the list. 

10. The Place Beyond the Pines

This film opens with an excellent sequence that introduces us to Luke Galton who is a motorcycle stunt performer in a traveling carnival. 

When Luke gets to know that he has an infant son with his ex-lover Romina, he decides to leave his nomadic life behind and provide for his child. However, his desperate attempts to earn money quickly lead him to rob a bank with his friend Robin. 

Luke’s criminal exploits soon put him on a collision course with cop Avery Cross. From here, you will see how the sins of these fathers have irrevocably shaped the lives of their sons. 

11. Promising Young Woman

Promising young woman is an audacious film that takes a bold and unflinching look at the dire nature of rape culture. 

This is a story about Cassie Thomas, whose life was derailed by a tragic event involving her best friend, Nina. Years after Nina’s sexual assault and suicide, Cassie finds herself stuck in a state of arrested development, working at a dead-end job and living with her parents.

Well, I have covered a lot of great films to stream on Peacock already, but if I’m being honest, the John Wick trilogy really takes the cake. John Wick is just an all-around awesome action movie.

Beyond that, you have got some excellent options like Oppenheimer, Arrival, and Dunkirk that are definitely worth watching. 

Though the original content is still lacking, Peacock has a really good collection of hidden gems that I think deserve a watch. There’s really something for everyone on Peacock’s movie lineup.
