As of now, Netflix has not yet officially announced the renewal of Outer Banks for the fifth season. However, there is a chance that we will be surprised with the announcement for the Outer Banks Season 5 by mid-2025.  

First of all, Outer Banks is platform’s one of the most liked offerings and Netflix loves to keep good ones going. And with Outer Banks, we should definitely count on it.

The show’s co-creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, have hinted that they see this as a multi-season story. He stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show.” 

They have also mentioned wanting to explore new villains and challenges for our favorite characters. It clearly means they have plenty of ideas coming up for future seasons.

Plus, there is no declaration that Season 4 is the final season. So yes, there is a strong likelihood that more episodes will follow ahead. 

Outer Banks Season 5 Release Date

Season 5 is expected to be released by late 2025 or early-mid 2026!

There are no idle talks yet from the creators about the release date of season 5. But from what we have seen, the series has experienced many delays in past seasons because of strikes in Hollywood and the pandemic. 

Now, when we look at the past release dates, the first season came in 2020, and the second season took time due to the pandemic and all. 

Season 3 took around seven months to film, while Season 4 filming extended over a year, starting in June 2023 and concluding in June 2024.

So, if Season 5 is greenlit, it could face similar scheduling challenges due to the cast’s commitments outside the show. 

We can expect Outer Banks Season 5 to be released by the end of 2025 or even into 2026.

While Season 4 is currently unfolding, discussions around Season 5 indicate a strong desire for continued exploration of the Pogues’ adventures.  

Given that the El Dorado and Denmark Tanny storylines have spanned three seasons, it’s possible that the Blackbeard storyline from Season 4 may continue into Season 5.

And let’s not forget about JJ. His struggle with discovering his true parentage is going to be a major storyline. I can already see him making some impulsive decisions that might put himself and his friends at risk, which will definitely ramp up the drama.

We might also see new antagonists emerge, especially with the partnership between Hollis Robinson and Chandler Groff posing fresh threats. 

Plus, the show creators have hinted at globetrotting adventures in Season 5, which means we could see the Pogues in new locations and face challenges!
