We have a breakdown of Captain America: Brave New World’s trailer, the fourth Captain America film starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford as President Ross, coming to theatres in February 2025.
Let’s go through some of the main scenes from the trailer and break down all the big details you missed!
We have compiled 10 easter eggs from the new “Captain America Brace New World” trailer in this post.
1) We have a RED HULK!
The Red Hulk is here, and from its looks, Captain America is in a world of trouble. The big, red guy makes his grand entrance at the very end of the trailer, letting out an animalistic roar.
The trailer keeps the character’s full design a mystery, but a few things catch the eye. Apart from the obvious red color, the Red Hulk has a somewhat slighter build than the green Hulk.
His roar sounds more deeply primal and almost elephant-like. The cherry tree-lined park area where he’s standing appears multiple times in the trailer, including one scene with several destroyed cars.
This could be where the final showdown between Cap and Red Hulk takes place.
2) Falcon is back in the MCU
The new Captain America movie has a RED Hulk – but what else is going on that you might’ve missed? If you notice early in the trailer, Joaquín Torres, Sam’s ally from “Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” appears.
Torres inherits the Falcon mantle after Sam becomes Captain America in the comics, and actor Danny Ramirez revealed in an interview that he thought Torres could bring plenty to the Falcon role in the MCU as well.
“Captain America: Brave New World” intends to show just how Torres fares. In one quick shot, Sam flies alongside another person in a wingsuit, which seems like a Falcon costume.
3) Recasting of “Thunderbolt Ross”
“Captain America: Brave New World” features a prominent recast for Thunderbolt Ross, with Harrison Ford taking over the role of William Hurt.
Hurt previously played Ross in several movies, including “The Incredible Hulk,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
Hurt’s last appearance as Marvel’s Secretary of State came in 2021’s “Black Widow.” After Hurt died in 2022, Marvel recasts Ross in the upcoming Captain America film.
Ford’s Ross is now President of the United States and the Red Hulk. Ford expressed excitement about joining the MCU, saying he was eager to try something different and fun.
4) “The Leader” – Friend or a Foe?
“Global power is shifting. You’re just a pawn.” At first viewing, you might be unsure who’s speaking, but subtitles confirm it’s Samuel Sterns, another forgotten character from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk.”
Sterns, played by Tim Blake Nelson, initially an ally to Bruce Banner, was last seen transforming into The Leader.
In the comics, The Leader is a villain with superhuman intelligence, telepathy, telekinesis, and even self-resurrection. In the trailer, Sterns looks transformed, with a hat poorly covering his green, veiny cranium.
Interestingly, he doesn’t seem to be the film’s big threat. He warns Sam, possibly indicating he’s more of an ally than an adversary.
5) The George Washington Bridge in Captain America?
Giancarlo Esposito is a welcome addition to the MCU, but his role remains a mystery. The trailer shows Esposito’s gun-wielding, sunglasses-rocking character in several scenarios.
Rumor has it that his character is George Washington Bridge, a mercenary affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D. and connected to the mutant corner of the Marvel universe.
If Esposito is Bridge, it’s possible that “Captain America: Brave New World” won’t be his only MCU appearance. He could become a new Nick Fury-style top spy.
6) Who is been laid to rest?
Cherry trees, prominent in Washington D.C., are seen throughout the trailer. First, there’s a military funeral procession, followed by Ross seemingly speaking to an audience attending the event.
Then we see a decimated motorcade, Sam picking up his shield, and Red Hulk making his debut. We wonder who’s being laid to rest. It could be Isaiah Bradley, whose body might have been studied for super-soldier secrets, potentially used by Ross to transform into Red Hulk.
7) Captain gets an offer to join the military
President Ross wants to make Captain America an official military position, pushing forward his agenda to bring Captain back into the military fold. Sam Wilson is wary of the proposition, considering his history with Ross.
This likely drives the conflict between them. Ross wants to control superheroes, while Sam’s relationship with the government is strained.
8) Isaiah Bradley is Activated
Isaiah Bradley, last seen getting recognition in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” seemingly becomes an unexpected gunman, disarming a guard and firing on the President during an event.
He jumps out the Oval Office window, reminiscent of Nightcrawler’s assassination attempt in “X-Men 2.” It appears Bradley has been activated, similar to the “Manchurian Candidate” or a “Winter Soldier.”
9) Captain America goes supersonic
We’ve known for a while that the new Captain America would be getting a wardrobe change. Now, thanks to a stunning aerial sequence, we know why. After taking on henchmen on the ground and getting heated with the President, Sam Wilson clips the wings of fighter jets before going supersonic.
This likely involves enhancements from Joaquín Torres, who helped with Sam’s gear in “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
10) The hand of Tiamut
One split-second moment in the teaser may hint at the movie’s story. Ballistic missiles fly past the hand of Tiamat, the Celestial from “Eternals.”
Although the film wasn’t a box office hit, this moment suggests a connection to the discovery of Adamantium in the MCU.
The emergence of this godly appendage might spark a resource war, the kind of geopolitical problem that needs Captain America to solve.
